Job summary

Advocate Health in Winston-Salem area is seeking a Scheduling Clerk for the WFBMC Main - Cardiology department. You will coordinate complex appointments, manage patient flow, and support clinicians with timely information and accurate documentation.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and a patient-centered approach within a high-volume medical office environment. This position offers a full-time schedule with some flexibility to meet department needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with one year of office or clerical work experience in direct customer service.
• Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environment, answering phones and using electronic messaging.
• Previous cardiology/transplant scheduling experience.
• Epic experience including scheduling, referrals, and In Basket management.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and complex scheduling workflows.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes computer programs to schedule, update, and cancel appointments.
• Ensures accurate registration and billing data and maintains authorization records.
• Coordinates with coworkers to meet scheduling targets and reduce abandoned calls.
• Screens calls, forwards messages, and documents scheduling information clearly.
• Assists with forms, insurance documentation, and referrals according to guidelines.
• Contributes to service improvements and solves problems for patients and providers.
