Job summary

Atrium Health seeks a highly organized, customer-focused Patient Scheduling Coordinator to manage patient appointments across multiple providers and locations. You will handle high call volumes, maintain accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare setting, and coordinate with lab and diagnostic services to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three years clerical experience, six months at Patient Scheduling Coordinator level or equivalent.
• Must complete certification program and maintain accuracy standards.
• BCLS required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Schedule clinical appointments for new and returning patients with independent judgment and discretion to priority using the IDX system.
• Coordinate extensive laboratory work and diagnostic testing for patients using LastWord, NotesLink, Logician, etc., or manual lab slips.
• Make daily judgments over the telephone as to when patients should be seen based on experience and patient charts.
• Coordinate testing for inpatients, coordinating transportation, timing, and types of tests.
• Assure that each patient's chart is fully prepared prior to the visit, including chart work-up.
• Answer inquiries concerning clinic policies and procedures and resolve patient issues with appropriate staff.
