Job summary

Northwestern Medicine-McHenry is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Cardiology clinic. This full-time role supports physicians and nurses by facilitating patient flow, performing procedures, and handling clinic administrative tasks. The position requires ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA testing as directed.

The role is based in McHenry with occasional travel to Huntley, schedule 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Must have MA certification eligibility and BLS/CPR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current certification required or eligible within six months for CMA/RMA/NCCT/CCMA/NRCMA exams.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures efficient patient flow by escorting patients, taking vital signs, documenting visit reasons, and maintaining exam rooms.
• Assists with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA-waived testing as directed.
• Maintains supply inventory, disinfects and prepares exam rooms, and participates in safety rounds.
• Communicates effectively with patients and care team and supports staff meetings.
