Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support RNs with high-acuity patients and assist with UNL patient loads. The role includes med administration, IV piggybacks, dressing changes, NG tube care, ostomy care, and discharge education, under RN coordination.

Qualifications include an active LPN license (IDFPR) and BLS within 30 days. This position emphasizes teamwork with RNs and physician/APP communication to ensure coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license current
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
• Education: College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids (excluding IV Push meds).
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after initial RN assessment.
• Charts on care plans opened by the RN.
• Assist with new care plans opened by RN as needed.
• Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care.
• Performs dressing changes and trach care as needed.
• Insert and care for NG tube and feedings via NG tube.
• Care for and change ostomy.
• Reinforce education and discharge instructions.
