Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Houma, LA is seeking licensed practical nursing professionals to support cardiovascular physicians and staff. You will perform triage, injections, diagnostic support, and coordinate care, while maintaining patient records in EMR systems and educating patients.

Ideal candidates hold a Louisiana LPN license with BLS (ACLS a plus) and/or CMA credentials with cardiology hours.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana LPN license and BLS certification (ACLS is a plus).
• CMA/RMA/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA certification with at least 400 cardiology clinical hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide licensed professional nursing care to support cardiovascular physicians and other medical staff.
• Perform triage, documentation, injections, diagnostic support, and coordination of care.
• Maintain and update patient records in paper and/or electronic medical systems.
• Respond to patient needs both in-clinic and by phone, assisting with procedures and patient education.
• Accurately document vital signs, medications, allergies, and patient concerns to support quality care and risk management.
• Support physicians during patient visits and follow orders including tests, injections, and patient instructions.
• Collaborate with departments through EMR communications to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist with Coumadin clinics, blood draws, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and diagnostic procedure explanations.
• Manage medical forms, insurance pre-certifications, supply ordering, and mandated safety checks.
• Provide cross-coverage and support to other clinics or departments as needed.

What Makes You a Great Match

• For LPNs: Current LPN license in Louisiana and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS a plus)
• For CMAs: Certification as a CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA and at least 400 clinical hours in cardiology
