Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South is seeking skilled clinicians to support cardiology care in Zachary, LA. You will perform vital sign collection, assist physicians with exams and procedures, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR system while educating patients on post-visit instructions.

The role requires an active Louisiana LPN license or CMA/MA certification with BLS, strong communication, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana LPN license and BLS certification required.
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and diagnostic support.
• Patient-centered communication and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities

• Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic preparations
• Provide clear patient education and post-visit instructions to promote understanding and follow-through
• Document care and provider orders accurately in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Support Coumadin clinics, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and monitor setup
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical areas; complete weekly OSHA and safety checks
• Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone, ensuring excellent communication and service
• Collaborate across departments to facilitate timely care, accurate documentation, and smooth workflow

What Makes You a Great Match

• For LPNs:Current LPN license in Louisiana and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS a plus)
• For CMAs: Certification as a CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA preferred. Non-Certified MA eligible as well
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered focus
