Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking qualified clinical staff to support physicians in exams, labs, and patient education. You will document care in EMR, assist with EKGs and phlebotomy, and ensure smooth clinic workflow.

Qualifications

• Current LPN license in Louisiana and BLS certification.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA preferred; Non-Certified MA eligible as well.
• Experience with EMR systems and clinical documentation.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing.
• Strong communication and patient-centered approach.
• Organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns.
• Assist physicians with exams, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic prep.
• Provide patient education and clear post-visit instructions.
• Document care and orders in EMR accurately.
• Support clinics with monitoring and safety checks.
• Maintain clean, safe clinical areas and stock levels.
• Answer patient inquiries in person and by phone.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic preparations
• Provide clear patient education and post-visit instructions to promote understanding and follow-through
• Document care and provider orders accurately in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Support Coumadin clinics, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and monitor setup
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical areas; complete weekly OSHA and safety checks
• Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone, ensuring excellent communication and service
• Collaborate across departments to facilitate timely care, accurate documentation, and smooth workflow

What Makes You a Great Match

• For LPNs: Current LPN license in Louisiana and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS a plus)
• For CMAs: Certification as a CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA preferred. Non-Certified MA eligible as well
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing
