Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South is seeking qualified LPNs and CMAs to support patient care and documentation in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include vital signs, exams assistance, phlebotomy and EKG support, patient education, and accurate EMR documentation across departments to ensure timely, safe care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current LPN license in Louisiana and BLS certification.
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage and procedure support.

Responsibilities

• Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns.
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic preparations.
• Provide clear patient education and post-visit instructions to promote understanding and follow-through.
• Document care and provider orders accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Support Coumadin clinics, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and monitor setup.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical areas; complete weekly OSHA and safety checks.
• Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone, ensuring excellent communication and service.
• Collaborate across departments to facilitate timely care, accurate documentation, and smooth workflow.

What Makes You a Great Match

• For LPNs:Current LPN license in Louisiana and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS a plus)
• For CMAs: Certification as a CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA preferred. Non-Certified MA eligible as well
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered focus
• Organized, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
