Job summary

Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Baton Rouge, LA, part of the CVL network, seeks dedicated LPNs or CMAs to join our cardiovascular care team. You will record vital signs, assist with exams, admin nurse duties, and educate patients on post-visit care while maintaining EMR documentation.

We value teamwork, patient-centered service, and adherence to safety standards. Eligible candidates include licensed LPNs with BLS and CMAs; ACLS is a plus, with competitive benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Louisiana LPN license with BLS; ACLS preferred.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA certification preferred; non-certified MA eligible.

Responsibilities

• Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns.
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic preparations.
• Provide patient education and post-visit instructions.
• Document care and provider orders in EMR.
• Support clinics, monitor setup, and departmental workflows.
• Maintain clean, safe clinical areas and perform weekly OSHA checks.
• Respond to patient inquiries with excellent communication.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure timely care and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic preparations
• Provide clear patient education and post-visit instructions to promote understanding and follow-through
• Document care and provider orders accurately in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Support Coumadin clinics, pacemaker/defibrillator checks, and monitor setup
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical areas; complete weekly OSHA and safety checks
• Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone, ensuring excellent communication and service
• Collaborate across departments to facilitate timely care, accurate documentation, and smooth workflow

What Makes You a Great Match

• For LPNs:Current LPN license in Louisiana and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS a plus)
• For CMAs: Certification as a CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA preferred. Non-Certified MA eligible as well
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered focus
• Organized, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
