Qualifications

• Education: Completion of a Telemetry Monitoring Technician education program or one year of related experience required.
• Licenses/Certifications: none required.
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Knowledge of ECG rhythms, monitoring system, review trends and alarms.

Responsibilities

• Provides continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on the telemetry monitoring system; documents per procedure.
• Interprets ECG rhythms and recognizes significant ECG events.
• Escalates significant or life-threatening changes immediately to a Registered Nurse; communicates clearly and promptly.
• Operates and troubleshoots telemetry monitoring system functions; accounts for all monitors at shift end.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients and enters information in the telemetry system.
• Maintains high level of service per standards, optimizing patient experience.
• Performs dysrhythmia examination and maintains clinical competency.
• Supports department goals and mentors less experienced staff.
