Job summary

Nicklaushealth is seeking a Cardiac Specialty Scrub Technologist to support complex cardiac surgeries, including robotic-assisted and transcatheter procedures. You will manage highly specialized instrumentation, anticipate procedural needs, and safeguard sterile technique in a high-risk environment.

The role requires advanced cardiac knowledge, autonomous functioning, and collaboration with surgeons, perfusionists, and nursing teams to ensure optimal procedural flow and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or National Certification.
• Completion of Operating Room orientation within 6 months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS - must be active.
• 2-4 years of Surgical Technologist experience in an acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary scrub technologist for complex cardiac and congenital procedures, including open-heart, hybrid, transcatheter, and robotic surgeries.
• Prepare, organize, and manage specialized cardiac instrumentation, implants, grafts, valves, and devices.
• Collaborate with the Specialty RN to facilitate equipment, supplies, and sterile setup for procedures.
• Act as preceptor and mentor for students, techs, and RNs scrub role in cardiac service(s).
• Provide technical guidance to vendors for cardiac equipment and robotic platforms.
• Assist with patient care during procedures, including instrument passes and post-procedure clean-up, per policy.
