Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System in Miami seeks a Cardiac Specialty Scrub Technologist to support complex cardiac and congenital procedures with expert instrumentation management and intraoperative assistance. You will collaborate with surgeons, interventional teams and nursing to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires advanced cardiac knowledge, sterile technique, and the ability to function autonomously in high-acuity environments, with mentorship responsibilities for students

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or National Certification.
• Successful completion of Operating Room orientation within 6 months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS - must maintain active and in good standing.
• 2-4 years of Surgical Technologist experience in an acute care setting (or) surgical tech student rotation with NCHS.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary scrub technologist for complex cardiac and congenital heart procedures, including open-heart, hybrid, transcatheter, and robotic‑assisted surgeries.
• Prepares, organizes, and manages highly specialized cardiac instrumentation, implants, grafts, valves, and devices for each procedure.
• Collaborates with Specialty Nurse to facilitate equipment, supplies and surgical setup.
• Act as primary preceptor for students, surgical techs and RNs in scrub role(s).
• Acts as technical resource to vendors for surgical equipment and needs.
• Assists with patient care during interventions, including prep, instrumentation, and post-procedure cleanup.
