The role requires advanced knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, outpatient coding guidelines, and payer-specific requirements. You will collaborate with physicians, APPs, clinical staff, and revenue cycle leadership to optimize reimbursement and ensure coding integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and accurately code outpatient cardiac surgery encounters using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Assign appropriate modifiers and ensure compliance with payer rules and Medicare guidelines.
• Interpret operative reports, documentation, and imaging related to cardiovascular surgery.
• Abstract coding data into the EMR and billing systems.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate with providers.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards.
• Support denial management and coding audits.
