Job summary

UNC Health Care System seeks a Physician Assistant or ACNP to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery service in Chapel Hill. The APP will assist in complex cardiac procedures, participate in education, and collaborate with Cardiology for procedures like TAVRs and MitraClips.

Responsibilities include clinical assessment, treatment planning, and education of patients, families, and staff. Strong preference for CTS OR first/second assistant experience and EVH Hemopro 2 proficiency.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
• Board certification and state license as an Advanced Practice Provider.
• 3–5 years of Cardiothoracic Surgical first/second assistant experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with EVH using Hemopro 2 is required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history, perform exams, and develop management plans within APP scope.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Lead and participate in teaching, rounds, and program initiatives to improve care.
• Maintain thorough documentation and compliance with privileging and policy guidelines.
• Collaborate with Cardiology and OR teams for integrated patient care.
