Job summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a Cardiac Surgeon to join our expanding cardiac program in York, PA. You will provide open heart and specialized cardiac ICU care within a dedicated team, collaborating with experienced nursing and cardiology colleagues across multiple units.

The opportunity sits within a large multi-specialty group, offering access to advanced imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and a new 200-bed surgical tower with four hybrid labs.

Qualifications

• Board Certification by the American Board of Surgery or the ABMS (required).
• Completion of a General Surgery residency (required).
• Must qualify and be a member of the Hospital Medical Staff upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide Open Heart ICU and Cardiac ICU care for complex cardiovascular disease, including LVAD management, where applicable.
• Collaborate with cardiovascular nursing teams across ICU, intermediate care, and dedicated cardiac units.
• Be part of a large, high-volume cardiology group with access to advanced imaging and interventional capabilities.
• Contribute to a state-of-the-art surgical facility with new cardiac operating rooms and hybrid labs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required or
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required

Licenses:

• Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
• Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

• Certification by the American Board of Surgery or American Board of Medical Specialties with experience as a practicing cardiac surgeon in the United States. Upon Hire Required and
• Successful completion of a General Surgery residency. Upon Hire Required and
• Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of the Hospital. Upon Hire Required
