Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare’s Herrin Hospital seeks an experienced registered nurse to provide professional nursing care for SIH patients in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities include assessing patients, planning and implementing individualized care, documenting accurately, teaching patients and families, and collaborating with the care team to ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license.
• Current CPR/BLS Card.
• Current ACLS card (within 6 months of hire).
• ACLS, Fetal Monitoring – Monitoring, & NRP (within 6 months of hire).
• TNCC or TNS (within 1 year of hire or residency graduation).
• NRP (within 6 months of hire).
• PALS (within 6 months of hire).
• ECRN (within 24 months of hire of residency graduation).

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients.
• Demonstrate clinical judgment in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record.
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care.
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel.
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals.
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level.
