Job summary

Covenant Health invites applications for a Health Unit Coordinator on the Medical-Surgical Unit in Morristown, TN. This full-time, day-shift position supports nursing units with clerical and secretarial tasks and ensures timely communication and patient flow.

Responsibilities include admitting/discharging patients, processing orders, scheduling tests and appointments, and maintaining chart accuracy. External hires must hold CNA/MA/EMT credentials or equivalent Covenant training.

Qualifications

• Must be a CNA, MA, or EMT at time of hire, or have six or more months as HUC I/PCA/CNA/MA/EMT.
• External hires must have CNA, MA, or EMT certification.
• Preference for readiness to complete Covenant Health training protocol.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties related to admissions, discharges, transfers, and death.
• Transcribe physician orders accurately and notify consults as ordered.
• Schedule tests, procedures, and appointments and organize patient charts.
• Maintain infection control policies and patient safety standards.
