Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Part-time Cardiac Sonographer to perform a range of echocardiography studies including stress and transesophageal exams, and to prepare data for interpretation by medical staff.

The role requires certification such as RDCS, RCS, and PE within 180 days of hire, with BLS eligibility. Work includes patient education and collaboration in QA and team meetings, in a health-system setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent.
• Echo imaging skills including two-dimensional, Doppler, color Doppler, transesophageal echocardiology (TEE), transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echo.
• Registered RDCS within ARDMS or equivalent within 180 days of hire.
• Registered RCS within ARDMS or equivalent within 180 days of hire.
• Pediatric echocardiography credential (PE) within ARDMS or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications within 90 days via AHA or ARC.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient chart and selects the most appropriate procedural methodology.
• Performs ultrasound tests per patient morphology and pathology; assesses calculation validity.
• Documents exam performance in EMR and hospital financial system.
• Attends departmental meetings and QA sessions; participates in workgroups.
• Informs patients and healthcare team about procedures and equipment.
• Calculates data and prepares materials for medical staff interpretation.
• Demonstrates ongoing education and professional involvement in sonography societies.
