Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a sonography professional to join the team, performing 2-D, M-mode, color flow, and cardiac Doppler echocardiography across adult and pediatric patients. The role requires knowledge of cardiac anatomy, careful documentation, and patient communication.

Occasional after-hours shifts may occur to ensure coverage of after-hours echo procedures. NGHS supports education, cross-training, and CME opportunities, including no-cost CMEs through education sessions.

Qualifications

• Licensure or other certifications: Certificate in Medical Sonography-Cardiac (RDCS or RCS). BLS Certification
• Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum Experience: 0-2 years of Clinical Echo experience

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in performing all cardiac ultrasound and echo procedures.
• Accurately explains procedures to patient and/or family members.
• Prioritizes workload to address urgent cases.
• Recognizes and reports conditions affecting test quality.
• Verifies orders and follows protocol with reading MD.
• Maintains documentation for IAC accreditation requirements.
• Assists in orientation of patient and family to the unit.
• Provides teaching to patients and family as appropriate.
• Ensures patient comfort before, during, and after procedures.
• Maintains supplies and equipment; keeps rooms clean.
• Ensures equipment is maintained and in working order.
• Meets productivity standards for the department.
