Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks an Echo Tech to perform diagnostic cardiac exams under physician direction. Primary site is St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Colorado with rotations to the Cardiology Clinic in Grand Junction.

Responsibilities include coordinating exams, educating patients, maintaining equipment, and mentoring staff. Full-time position, 40 hours/week, four 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM–5:00 PM) with on-call duties requiring a 30-minute response.

Qualifications

• ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical competence for department protocols.
• Prioritize and schedule exams.
• Coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers and patients.
• Educate patient and family on procedure; prepare patient for exam; transport patient as needed.
• Perform ultrasound exams per protocols in a timely manner.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort and achieve quality outcomes.
• Communicate patient needs to physicians and care team during exams.
• Return patient to room and ensure stability after exam; document results.
• Mentor caregivers and students on equipment use and techniques.
• Apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies.
• Clean and maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies.
• Coordinate repairs or supply needs through proper channels.
• Support team and quality improvement processes.
• Participate in educational opportunities to develop clinical competence and skills.
• Provide education for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.
