Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform routine and emergency echocardiograms, obtain high-quality images, and prepare preliminary reports for Cardiologists. You will work across various sites, join in ongoing education, and participate in quality improvement activities.

The role requires ARRT/ARDMS registration within one year, CPR/BLS certification, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Sonography credential registration (ARRT(S), RDMS, RDCS) through ARRT/ARDMS. Must be registered in appropriate cardiology specialties within one year of hire.
• CPR/BLS Certification Required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine echocardiograms and emergency echocardiograms following protocols.
• Records quality information and prepares preliminary reports for cardiologist review.
• Explains procedures and potential side effects to patients or family.
• Operates echocardiography equipment and maintains it in good working order.
• Attends lab meetings and participates in quality improvement activities.
• Provides coverage across locations, including weekends and on-call as needed.
• Instructs students, fellows, or nurses as requested.
