Job summary

University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer Non-Invasive Technologist to perform transthoracic echocardiograms, color flow Doppler, spectral Doppler and related studies for inpatient and outpatient populations.

The role requires a Cardiovascular Technology or Medical Sonography degree with echocardiography specialty, RDCS or RCS credentials (or obtainable within 1 year), and BLS certification; hybrid work options may be available.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or Medical sonography with a specialty in Echocardiography is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer date.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Select ultrasound equipment and ancillary equipment required by each echo study; set up the procedure room.
• Assess echo orders to identify pathology requirements and contrast needs.
• Explain the procedure to the patient and assist with positioning, respecting modesty and comfort.
• Operate equipment to maximize image quality and data acquisition; select transducers and adjust settings.
• Assist physicians with invasive echo procedures and ultrasound-guided procedures in cath or EP labs; perform data entry as required.
• Monitor patient status and report critical findings; follow infection prevention guidelines.
