Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiography, including M-Mode, 2-D and Doppler studies, within the Aurora Lakeland Medical Center Cardiovascular Diagnostics department.

To succeed in this role, you will assess patient histories, assist in transesophageal studies, and ensure high-quality imaging while maintaining lab equipment and patient safety. There is a rotation between clinic and hospital shifts with a day shift emphasis.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures such as M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler and Color Flow Doppler.
• Identifies cardiac abnormalities and extends the scope of the examination as needed.
• Prepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical history to adapt imaging techniques.
• Assists in transesophageal studies with cardiologist and sterilizes probes.
• Communicates clinical findings to appropriate staff.
• Records statistics and maintains Echocardiography Lab equipment.
• Must demonstrate knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served and adhere to department policies.
