Job summary

The Cardiac Sonographer at The Jewish Hospital (a Bon Secours Mercy Health facility) performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams using ultrasound to evaluate the heart, including Transthoracic and Transesophageal Echocardiography and stress testing. On-call hours are required.

Education includes an associate degree in a related health science field; BLS certification is required and credentialing in echocardiography (RDCS or RCS) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or related study (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified (required).
• Credentialed in echocardiography: RDCS or RCS (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound equipment to evaluate the heart.
• Demonstrates ability to perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
• Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
• Uses the hospital EMR to review patient information and document findings.
• On-call hours required.
