Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform cardiac imaging and echocardiograms, including adult, pediatric and stress studies. The role requires clear patient communication, strict safety adherence, and collaboration with physicians and the Echo department.

Responsibilities include prepping patients, maintaining equipment, documenting findings, and supporting team efforts. Flexibility to take call and work weekends/holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant sonography programs preferred.
• Registered or credentialed in diagnostic cardiac sonography per exam.
• Experience communicating with patients and healthcare staff is essential.

Responsibilities

• Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
• Obtains complete clinical history and assesses contraindications.
• Performs echocardiograms including adult, pediatric, stress and structural heart studies.
• Provides an oral summary of preliminary findings to the physician when requested.
• Maintains patient privacy and comfort and follows safety protocols.
• Takes call, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
