Job summary

Ochsner Health System seeks a Cardiac (Echo) Sonographer at Ochsner Kenner to perform a range of echocardiographic exams with Doppler and Color Flow imaging. The role includes patient education, image acquisition, and documentation, with emphasis on quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, RDCS/RCS eligibility within 6 months, and BLS certification; 1 year of cardiac ultrasound experience is preferred. Ability to work nights/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required – None experience necessary.
• Preferred – 1 year of cardiac ultrasound experience.
• Required - Active RDCS or RCS registry within 6 months of completing the required 12 month clinical experience period.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, instructs, and educates patient on procedures.
• Performs diagnostic sonographic procedures.
• Documents and keeps records.
• Prepares work area and equipment.
• Maintains professional development and credentials.
• Adapts communication to patient population and privacy needs.
• Performs other related duties as required.
