Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana seeks a qualified cardiac ultrasound technologist to perform echocardiograms, Doppler studies, and related testing. The role includes preparing patients, recording findings, and supporting the health care team in a fast-paced environment in Shreveport.

The ideal candidate holds RDCS or RCS certification within 12 months of clinical completion and an AHA BLS certificate, with strong patient communication and adherence to privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred – 1 year of experience in cardiac ultrasound.
• Active RDCS or RCS certification within 6 months of completing the required 12 month clinical experience period.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic sonographic procedures (e.g., echocardiograms, Doppler, color flow).
• Compiles history and diagnostic information from examinations and presents findings.
• Prepares, instructs, and educates patients on procedures.
• Documents and maintains patient records and results.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, credentials, and equipment readiness.
• Adapts care to patient age, privacy, and cultural needs; communicates professionally.
