Presbyterian Hospital’s Cardiac Critical Care unit in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Unit Secretary/Nursing Tech to perform secretarial and clerical duties while assisting the nursing team. You will monitor patients, document care, transport, and support IV lines and basic bedside procedures under licensed supervision.

The role offers on-site night shifts, requires a high school diploma, on-the-job training, and benefits including tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, staff safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Preferred: specialized training in basic patient care (CNA, Medical Assistant, Nursing student with a skills lab) or at least 6 months experience in direct patient care.
• Maintains current BLS (AHA Healthcare Provider) certification at time of hire.
• Complete all organizational competency training within specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct customers; facilitate accurate/unit communication.
• Answer phones and process information; direct calls to appropriate parties.
• Monitor patients and collect information for documentation in the patient record.
• Transport patients and document actions in patient records.
• Collect and record vital signs; assist with basic bedside testing.
• Support IV therapy lines and wound care under licensed supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient hygiene.
• Assist nurses and physicians with sterile procedures as needed.
• Maintain equipment and supply systems; readiness of rooms for next patient.
• Use EMR (EPIC) for unit secretary duties and patient records.
