Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is seeking a Full Time Night Patient Care Tech on a 6pm-6:30am shift with rotating weekends. The role supports nursing staff in basic care, patient assistance, and unit operations within the CDH Cardiac Intermediate unit.

Eligibility includes a high school diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical experience and BLS certification. Excellent benefits, tuition reimbursement, and professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking under stressful situations.
• Utilizes critical thinking to prioritize and complete unit work as needs arise.
• Serves as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers telephone, intercom and call lights politely and communicates information to staff/family/patient.
• Manages unit workflow with RN/assistant manager when needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge and census lists when required.
