Job summary

A transportation company based in San Antonio, Texas, is looking for an Auto Transport Driver to safely operate a 9-car hauler. The driver will be home weekly, with responsibilities including vehicle inspections and reporting mechanical issues. Qualifications

  • 22 years of age required.
  • At least 3-5 years driving experience.
  • Must communicate in English.
  • 3-5 years of related driving experience.
  • At least one years of heavy hauling (7 car hauler) / commercial driving experience
  • Familiar with auto auctions and dealerships
  • Overnight stays are required.
  • Must be able to speak write and communicate in English
  • Ability to communicate calmly and effectively
  • Basic technology skills. Ability to use GPS, company-issued software, mobile device
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to use tools
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting work, hours, and information

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a 9-car hauler commercial carrier.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections for safety.
  • Report any mechanical issues immediately.
  • Wear all required safety equipment during work hours
  • Report all mechanical issues with regard with truck and trailers at the time of discovery to Terminal.
  • Responsible for following all Company and DOT rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of the truck.
  • Check fuel level at the end and in the beginning of each shift.
  • Check fluid levels at the end and beginning of each shift
  • Inspect all supplied tools such as chains, straps and cables to ensure equipment is in good and safe condition prior to departure from the yard each day.
  • Maintain clean truck inside and out, removing all trash/debris daily
  • Wash exterior and interior of truck weekly
  • Communicate with dispatch center (when safe to do so), meeting all company and DOT regulations via company or Company provided mobile device of all vehicle information, location and progression of dispatch.
  • Immediately report any issue that restricts the ability to complete the dispatch in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company policies and DOT regulations with regards to the safe loading, securement and transportation of all vehicles, equipment and cargo from the point of pick to the point of completion.
  • Respectful communication with all dispatchers, co‑workers and customers is paramount to the ongoing success of our company. In the event of any disagreement or situation, it is company policy that you avoid all confrontations and report it to the Terminal Manager immediately.
  • Complete manifests and tow/haul slip as required by the company, local and state agencies as to vehicle, equipment or cargo, by identification or manifest number and point of loading and completion of the towing/ hauling transportation event.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Job Overview

The Auto Transport Driver will safely operate a 9-car hauler commercial industrial carrier or tractor trailer in combination with a GVWR rating at more than 33,000lbs.

*Home weekly. Resets are done at home.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Report each scheduled day, on‑time, ready and able to work, well‑groomed and in uniform
  • Identify to the appropriate Dispatcher that you are available to work
  • Perform vehicle inspection daily, identifying any mechanical issues, unreported damage or any
  • limitations as to the vehicle’s safe operation
  • Wear all required safety equipment during work hours
  • Report all mechanical issues with regard with truck and trailers at the time of discovery to Terminal.

Physical Requirements

The job requires lifting, crawling, pulling, constant use of hands, significant bending and reaching, climbing. significant physical strength and stamina. Ability to lift and pull at least 50 lbs. Good hearing and vision are required.
