Job summary

The State of Colorado, via the Colorado Department of Public Safety, is seeking a Security I for 100% in-person service at the Capitol complex. The role covers day, swing, and graveyard shifts with 10-hour rotations, focusing on interior and exterior protection, access control, and incident reporting to ensure safety across state facilities.

Applicants must be Colorado residents, 18+, and able to pass background checks and training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application.
• Background checks, polygraph or drug testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interior and exterior security tours of state buildings and grounds.
• Screen belongings at security checkpoints within Capitol Complex.
• Identify alarms, safety hazards, and unauthorized personnel.
• Provide services to tenants, including unlocking doors and escorts.
• Operate magnetometers and x-ray screening machines at Capitol/Judicial Building.
• Submit work orders for maintenance issues affecting security.
• Secure exterior entrances, doors and windows; patrol as assigned.
• Prepare daily security reports and communicate with dispatch.
