Job summary

Benton Harbor Area Schools is seeking a Grant Writer specializing in capital projects and school-based grants to secure funding for building rehab, demolition, and educational initiatives. The role requires outstanding writing, knowledge of funding processes, and the ability to craft donor-aligned narratives.

You will collaborate with the Director of Finance, program directors, and project managers to develop proposals, budgets, and reporting, manage grant calendars, and cultivate relationships

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Accounting, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of grant writing experience, specifically for capital projects and education-based initiatives.
• Proven track record of successful grant proposals leading to secured funding.
• Strong understanding of grant processes, funder expectations, and compliance issues.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Grant Research: Identify potential funding sources for capital projects and school-based initiatives.
• Proposal Development: Write clear, persuasive grant proposals and create budgets aligned with requirements.
• Grant Management: Maintain deadlines and coordinate with staff for required documentation.
• Reporting and Evaluation: Develop reports detailing progress and outcomes per guidelines.
• Networking and Relationship Building: Build relationships with funders and stakeholders.
• Work with Finance/Facility Directors on Master Plan implementation.
