Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a detail-oriented Maintenance/Construction Project Manager I (NS) to lead design and construction of capital improvements. This role manages budgets, coordinates with engineers and outside consultants, and ensures compliance with codes and standards throughout planning through occupancy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field.
• Two (2) years of related experience in construction project management.
• May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Conducts bid openings, bid evaluation, and recommends award of construction projects.
• Manages project budgets, approves payments to contractors and designers as well as reviews, negotiates, and approves change orders during construction as appropriate.
• Coordinates internal engineering review of schematic designs and construction drawings provided by outside consultants for conformance with operational needs and codes and standards.
• Represents the Department’s interests at construction progress meetings, conferences, and inspections.
• Conducts final inspections along with designers, recommends acceptance for occupancy.
• Conducts post-occupancy evaluations and resolves issues through warranty considerations.
