Job summary

The City of Durham's General Services Department seeks a seasoned Construction Project Manager to lead major capital improvement projects for city facilities. You will oversee design teams, contractors, and CMARs, ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with City leadership and legal staff.

Ideal candidates bring five+ years of municipal project experience, a degree in engineering or related field, and a valid NC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Five years of construction project management experience.
• Experience overseeing design and construction projects for public facilities.
• Knowledge of procurement laws and contract management.

Responsibilities

• Lead oversight of multiple complex city building projects from land acquisition through close-out.
• Manage design consultants, general contractors, CMARs and other vendors.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and risk registers.
• Prepare reports, agendas, and presentations for City Council and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with City Attorney and other departments on contracts and procurement.
