Do you enjoy working outside and with your hands? NC State Parks has a Maintenance/Construction Technician II position available. This role is responsible for hands‑on work maintaining grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment. Work includes custodial tasks, boundary line clearing, routine maintenance, trail maintenance, trash collection, mowing and trimming, prescribed burn assistance and/or auto mechanics.
Typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 3:30pm; includes evening shifts and weekends on a rotating schedule. Must work weekends and holidays on‑call rotation. Must be able to perform work inside and outside in various environmental conditions with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without reasonable accommodation. Position is considered “Essential/Mandatory Staff” and required to work on adverse weather days, during park emergencies, and may be called to work on special events. Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification: May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
