Job summary

Queen Anne's County Government, Maryland seeks a seasoned finance professional to oversee capital projects and fixed asset accounting. You will manage the capital asset ledger, depreciation, and project budgeting while supporting audits and grant reporting.

Responsibilities include advising departments on budget amendments, preparing ACFR inputs, and collaborating with auditors to ensure accurate financial statements. A CPA is preferred; a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in capital project and fixed asset tasks; degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Governmental or non-profit sector experience preferred, but not required.
• CPA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
• Monitor and update the capital asset subsidiary ledger, ensuring materiality thresholds are capitalized and depreciated.
• Manage capital project accounting, including setting up new projects, monitoring budgets, and providing reports to the Finance Director.
• Review project budgets for overages and coordinate amendments with departments.
• Work with County departments and auditors on capital asset issues and questions.
• Perform year-end depreciation, reporting, and audit-related tasks for the Fixed Asset schedules.
• Prepare budget amendments relating to capital projects and adjusting entries.
• Prepare financial grant reports and ensure expenditures align with awards and reimbursements.
• Perform complex reconciliations and assist with the ACFR preparation for submission.
