Queen Anne's County Government, Maryland seeks a seasoned finance professional to oversee capital projects and fixed asset accounting. You will manage the capital asset ledger, depreciation, and project budgeting while supporting audits and grant reporting.
Responsibilities include advising departments on budget amendments, preparing ACFR inputs, and collaborating with auditors to ensure accurate financial statements. A CPA is preferred; a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance is required.
LOCATION: Queen Anne's County, Maryland
The annual salary for this position is up to $95,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is responsible for the County’s daily operations relating to capital projects and fixed assets, and assistance with other county departments on behalf of the Finance Office for any capital issues. In addition to a high level of task-oriented skills, this position must also be able to conceptualize existing procedures; initiate changes to yield new procedures; and evaluate the results.
Extensive knowledge and skills in capital projects and fixed assets. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities. Skill in the operation of personal computer or analogous computer hardware and word processing, spread sheet, and application software relating to payroll and accounts payable. Ability to write clearly and cogently on a variety of subjects related to the position. Ability to learn and understand the operating issues of other departments and agencies.
Knowledge of, and experience with, Tyler Munis software is a plus.
Status as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred, but not required.
Possession of a Class C Motor Vehicle Operator’s License issued by the Maryland MVA (or equivalent), or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty days after employment to the position.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and a minimum of three (3) years experience performing comparable capital project and fixed asset tasks, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Governmental or non-profit sector preferred, but not required.
Typically sit at a desk or computer table. Occasionally walk, stand, or stoop. Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Frequently use office equipment requiring an above average degree of dexterity. Possess a sufficient degree of hearing and speaking to be able to communicate with others both in person and over a telephone. Possess sufficient visual ability to effectively operate all office equipment. Work is performed in an office-like setting that is an environmentally controlled room. The noise level is usually moderate.
Employees must conform to applicable policies and safety rules. This position is one within the Queen Anne’s County Civil Service System.
