South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority in New Haven, CT is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage the Authority’s capital asset records, support capital projects, and maintain asset databases.

You will develop asset management policies, reconcile CWIP and depreciation, and partner with project managers to ensure assets move correctly to UPIS. A Bachelor’s in Accounting and 5–7 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifikationen

• 5-7 years of accounting work experience.
• Knowledge of utility accounting and ability to work independently.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Manage capital asset accounting throughout the asset lifecycle, including CWIP, capitalization, transfers, retirements and depreciation.
• Reconcile capital assets and CWIP records to the general ledger; investigate discrepancies.
• Coordinate with project managers to monitor project status and ensure timely transfers to UPIS.
• Update Capital Budget.
• Prepare the Capital Authorization (monthly to Trustee).
• Prepare the Capital Variance Report.
• Prepare Schedule C reports (quarterly capital spending budget vs actual).
• Review Pipe Sheets (provided by Contractors).
• Work with Contracts on Developer Pipe Projects to obtain certification of RWA ownership of assets.
• Prepare year-end schedule for audit and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare annual amortization entries for contributions-in-aid-of-construction.
• Develop policies and procedures for fixed assets.
• As necessary, accounting functions related to special projects.
• Research historical records related to asset acquisition.
• Monitor cash flow related to asset acquisition.
