Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., a leading energy and water solutions provider, is seeking a senior Property Accountant III to safeguard and reconcile utility plant records in accordance with USoA and GAAP. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Regulatory, and Finance teams to ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in fixed-asset accounting or regulated utilities is preferred.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and fixed-asset accounting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to research accounting issues.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain utility plant accounting records ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Record and manage plant additions, retirements, transfers, and other asset transactions.
• Oversee asset data in PowerPlan and ensure consistency with SAP/G/Ls.
• Lead depreciation calculations and review for unusual variances.
• Prepare monthly close and supporting schedules for plant accounting.
