Job summary
Valmont Industries in Omaha, Nebraska seeks a Commodity Manager – CapEx to lead strategic sourcing for capital expenditures, drive cost reductions, and manage supplier relationships across global operations. The role collaborates with Operations, Engineering, Quality and Project Management to optimize the CapEx portfolio.
The candidate will develop category strategies, review suppliers, and support site services, equipment, and construction projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher with years of experience in commodity management or supply chain
- Experience developing category strategies for CapEx, indirect procurement, or industrial services
- Proven supplier development and productivity improvement track record
- Strong negotiation, analytical and financial skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Responsibilities
- Manage CapEx projects including equipment, services, and construction
- Implement long-term supplier strategies and ensure compliance
- Oversee supplier relationships for safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Negotiate contracts and optimize pricing and terms
- Analyze markets and develop strategic sourcing plans
- Prepare monthly scorecards and annual strategic plans
- Maintain contracts, pricing, and compliance documentation
- Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives
