Job summary

Valmont Industries in Valley, Nebraska, is seeking an experienced Buyer to procure assigned items, plan and coordinate activities to ensure on-time deliveries and accurate shipments, and serve as the liaison between supply chain and operations.

The role involves purchase order creation, supplier coordination, expediting, and supporting invoicing while contributing to Lean initiatives and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Preferred Bachelor’s or Associate degree with 3+ years relevant experience or 5+ years of related purchasing/quality experience.
• Professional work experience with contract management and negotiations.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• APICS certification is a plus (C.P.I.M. or CPIM).

Responsibilities

• Procure assigned items, plan and coordinate activities to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Create and manage purchase orders and monitor supplier performance.
• Expedite past-due orders and resolve shipment discrepancies.
• Serve as liaison between supply chain, operations, and suppliers.
• Support invoicing, returns, and supplier certifications as needed.
• Participate in Lean initiatives such as Kanban and inventory optimization.
