Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a Capacity Planning Engineer to identify distribution system capacity needs, perform feeder/substation studies, and lead capital project scope development. You will coordinate with Grid Management, Operations, and DPAC to implement practical solutions across the Carolinas East service territory.

The role involves hybrid work with on-site requirements, supports load forecasting, and requires strong communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required or equivalent.
• MS in Engineering may substitute for BS if applicable.
• PE license may be preferred for Senior Engineer track.

Responsibilities

• Perform feeder and substation capacity studies and identify constraints.
• Develop Grid Plan scopes and capacity uplift initiatives.
• Evaluate large customer load requests and propose feasible solutions.
• Prepare capital project scopes and business justifications.
• Coordinate with DPAC, Grid Management and Operations.
• Support storm response and field troubleshooting as needed.
