Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking an experienced Medical Interpreter to support patient and family communication across languages at our Boston campus and affiliate sites. You will provide interpretation and translation of materials, collaborate with auxiliary interpreters, and ensure accurate documentation of encounters.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Licenses and Credentials: Medical Interpreter Certificate is required.
• National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters preferred.
• Experience: Healthcare and/or medical interpreting experience 2-3 years preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: active listening, clear communication, and professional interaction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a mediator to enhance communication between staff and patients/family regarding medical care.
• Keep accurate documentation of interpretation encounters including location, duration, and purpose.
• Provide coordination and staff training on the use of telephone language interpretation services.
• Answer calls promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist with appointment reminders, rescheduling, and scheduling interpreters as needed.
• Help LEP patients navigate the hospital and connect with social services.
• Travel to second location (800 Huntington Avenue) as required.
