Job summary

Minnesota Cannabis Services is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead dispensary floor operations, staff development, cash and inventory control, and strict regulatory compliance. This high-impact role supports store leadership and drives exceptional customer experiences in a fast-changing retail cannabis environment.

You will mentor a team, ensure SOP adherence, manage queues, and coach budtenders to deliver product knowledge and service excellence while meeting state requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of retail, hospitality, or customer service experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
• Cannabis industry experience a plus — not required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Comfortable working in a highly regulated, compliance-driven environment.
• Proficiency with POS systems and inventory software; cannabis seed-to-sale experience a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Must meet all state requirements for employment in a licensed cannabis facility.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations and ensure adherence to all SOPs and company policies.
• Manage shift coverage, staffing adjustments, and timesheet accuracy.
• Ensure full compliance with all state cannabis regulations and internal procedures.
• Support change management implementations and ensure SOP updates are communicated and trained to all staff.
• Open and close petty cash banks and reconcile EOD cash reports.
• Receive deliveries, restock products, and maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of retail employees; train new hires.
• Coach budtenders on product knowledge and compliance; manage customer flow during peak hours.
• Complete incident reports and documentation for performance management.
• Report HR matters to leadership; support promotions/terminations decisions.
