Job summary

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. is seeking an experienced scientist for the Frederick National Laboratory to lead and execute advanced cancer nanomedicine research within the Cancer Research Technology Program.

The role focuses on culturing mammalian cells, 3D models, and performing toxicology and efficacy assays to advance preclinical candidates. Applicants should have a strong background in flow cytometry, ELISAs, immunohistochemistry, and real-time metabolism analysis (Seahorse XF).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from CHEA-recognized institution in Immunology, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Proficiency in aseptic mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with 3D cell models (spheroids and organoids).
  • Experience designing and executing multicolor flow cytometry, ELISAs, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Experience operating real-time metabolic analyzers (Seahorse XF) and analyzing OCR/ECAR data.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and manipulate cell cultures (2D/3D/organoid) for downstream screening.
  • Execute cell-based toxicity and efficacy assays (MTT, LDH) to screen nanomedicine candidates.
  • Perform in vitro immunotoxicity evaluations via multicolor flow cytometry and biomarker analysis.
  • Conduct real-time metabolic assays to characterize cellular metabolism and mitochondrial function.
