Job summary

The Frederick National Laboratory, operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc., seeks a PhD-level scientist to lead pre-clinical research in the Laboratory Animal Sciences Program at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD. Qualifications

  • PhD from an accredited college; foreign degrees evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience.
  • Expert knowledge of tissue engineering or biomedical engineering principles.
  • Experience performing basic and advanced lab techniques in tissue/biomedical engineering and cell-based assays.
  • Experience documenting data and maintaining accurate lab records.
  • Experience operating standard biomedical lab equipment and quality control procedures.
  • Experience analyzing and reporting experimental results.
  • Extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals with demonstrated impact.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced software for statistics, scientific computing, engineering design, or omics analyses.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Executing all pre-clinical scientific research and development strategies.
  • Developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Applying expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts to projects.
  • Contributing scientific and technical expertise to novel technologies and products.
  • Acting as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Troubleshooting experiments and approaches to critical assignments.
  • Maintaining knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Contributing to scientific literature and conferences.
  • Considering future impact of research and development on the business.
  • Interfacing with various departments and serving as internal consultants.
