Job summary

Ochsner Rush Health is seeking a skilled medical coder to review and accurately code professional services and hospital outpatient procedures in line with payer guidelines. You will ensure proper reimbursement by validating documentation and applying ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, at least 1 year of coding experience, and AHIMA or AAPC certification preferred. You will collaborate with a team to meet quality and productivity goals while complying with

Qualifications

• ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding knowledge required.
• Strong data entry and typing skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Familiarity with payer guidelines and documentation review.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assigns ICD-10, CPT and/or HCPCS codes within established guidelines.
• Ensures data integrity of coded records by validating documentation.
• Researches patient accounts in response to questions and errors.
• Meets department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Communicates with providers for clarification as needed.
• Collaborates with team to meet monthly goals (DNFB, Pre-AR, Denials, edits).
• Verifies discharge dispositions when appropriate.
• Other related duties as required.
