Job summary

Orica is seeking a Payroll Officer to join its North America Payroll Team in Centennial, CO. You will support the accurate processing of bi-weekly and monthly Canadian payroll and respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and collaboration with HR, Finance and business partners. Dayforce and related systems are used daily, with bilingual English/French considered a plus.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience processing Canadian payroll – mandatory.
• Experience using the Dayforce payroll system – a strong asset.
• Familiarity with collective agreements and unionized payroll environments – an asset.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation, deductions, and payroll best practices.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions and wage calculations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Verify the accuracy of payroll data prior to final submission in Dayforce.
• Review, verify, and manage the flow of payroll-related information between systems and stakeholders, including GL for Finance, HR, Payroll, and tax interfaces.
• Validate and process employee lifecycle changes, including new hires and terminations, promotions and compensation changes, wage garnishments, tax deduction updates, relocation expenses, bonuses, and other payroll-related transactions.
• Ensure payroll files are accurately prepared and uploaded into the Dayforce system.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of payroll data and employee records.
• Audit payroll information and investigate discrepancies as required.
• Deliver timely, professional, and high-quality customer service to employees and managers regarding payroll inquiries.
• Utilize the HR ticketing system to respond to and resolve payroll-related requests.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the employee payroll experience.
• Work with systems including Dayforce Payroll, ServiceNow, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook 365.
