Job summary

Orica in Centennial, CO is seeking a Payroll Officer to support bi-weekly and monthly Canadian payroll processing, delivering excellent customer service to employees and managers on payroll matters. Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience processing Canadian payroll – mandatory.
• Experience using the Dayforce payroll system – a strong asset.
• Familiarity with collective agreements and unionized payroll environments – an asset.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation, deductions, and payroll best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Bilingualism (English/French) – an asset.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Processing: Process payroll transactions and wage calculations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Verify the accuracy of payroll data prior to final submission in Dayforce.
• Review, verify, and manage the flow of payroll-related information between systems and stakeholders, including General Ledger (GL) for Finance, HR, Payroll, and tax interfaces.
• Validate and process employee lifecycle changes, including: New hires and terminations; Promotions and compensation changes; Wage garnishments and child support orders; Tax deduction updates; Relocation expenses; Bonus payments; Other payroll-related transactions.
• Ensure payroll files are accurately prepared and uploaded into the Dayforce system.
• Data Integrity: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of payroll data and employee records.
• Review personnel records to ensure employee information is current and accurately reflected in payroll systems.
• Audit payroll information and investigate discrepancies as required.
• Customer Service: Deliver timely, professional, and high-quality customer service to employees and managers regarding payroll inquiries.
• Utilize the HR ticketing system to respond to and resolve payroll-related requests.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the employee payroll experience.
• Systems & Technology: Work with Dayforce Payroll, ServiceNow Ticketing System, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook 365.
