Job summary

The Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) in Delaware seeks a CAN Case Review Specialist within the Oversight Unit to screen and monitor child abuse and neglect cases referred to the CAN Panel. You will coordinate case reviews, maintain confidential records and support monthly multidisciplinary meetings with CPAC and JTOT teams.

Ideal candidates have experience with Word/Excel/Dropbox/Zoom/Adobe, strong administrative skills and knowledge of child welfare policies.

Qualifications

• Experience with Word, Excel, Dropbox, Zoom and Adobe.
• Administrative tasks: drafting minutes, confidential records, invoices and detailed notes.
• Knowledge of laws, rules and procedures protecting clients' health, safety, welfare or rights.
• Knowledge of legal support work: case files, filing, and discovery methods.
• Knowledge of child welfare systems, investigations and multidisciplinary reviews.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Delaware Class D driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Screen and monitor cases referred to the CAN Panel from the Investigation Coordinator.
• Enter and track CAN cases using the data management system.
• Submit subpoenas for medical records and coordinate with medical abstractors.
• Maintain electronic CAN caseload files and the CAN Review Schedule.
• Attend monthly CAN Panel review meetings and prepare the meeting packets.
• Coordinate attendance with Law Enforcement Agencies for review meetings.
• Maintain accurate, confidential minutes of CAN Panel meetings.
• Support CAN Panel members with monthly meeting needs.
• Analyze CAN data to identify gaps and trends for policy improvement.
• Support CPAC initiatives and coordinate with partners on data and policy.
• Assist CAN Steering Committee data collection and trend identification.
• Plan and coordinate the CPAC/Maternal and Child Death Review Commission retreat.
